To graduate Hyper Island I needed to get an internship which I found at Alwy. During that internship period I started working primarily as a Front End Developer but quickly took on tasks around UI and UX design. I worked on creating a design system that helped us quickly prototype new designs and features within figma. Once that was complete I developed a "UI Kit" that consisted of reusable components that could be leveraged across the Alwy application.
The first step was creating a series of rules as Alwy had no set defined style guide for the branding. This was the first task I took up defining the logo rules, colors, and fonts to be leveraged across the application. These were then incorperated into the figma file to be used quickly and easily across the whole design system. Other aspects of the brand guide included an asset library collecting all the images used across the landing and application, as well as logos and icons for collaborating companies. Then I moved onto the component creation with buttons, form fields, toggle switches, checkboxes, elevation states, etc.
Once we finalized the decisions with the design system and started incorperating the Ui Kit we started on a refresh of both the landing page and the application. This allowed us to quickly experiment with different designs and ideas and then once decided upon to quickly impliment said designs. While the design continued to evolve I have included some of the inital iteration to show the variation we came up with within the design scope we established.
While I enjoyed my time at Alwy I want to move to a more design focused role as both UI and UX design considerations is where I bring the most value.
